On Saturday August 23rd, in response to the unrest in Ferguson, MO, FOCUS Gateway City held a free BBQ in the parking lot of Sam's Meat Market- a store that was ransacked and looted during the unrest. In an effort to help one of many local business recuperate, FOCUS, along with local volunteers and donors, were able to supply meals during the protest. The meat and supplies were purchases from Sam’s Meat Market.  Nearly 1300 servings were handed out that day. Volunteers and donors alike did their best to create a positive atmosphere and conversation.  We are thankful to God for the volunteers who stepped forward and helped serve our community. Although not our goal, over the past few months we have received national media attention and we pray that the we can show the nation that we can move forward through prayer, lovingly engaging one another in dialogue and good deeds that build up and edify.

On Monday night Nov. 24th, Sam's Meat Market once again suffered and was set on fire. FOCUS Gateway City Director Eric Shanburn and volunteer Ron Franklin spoke with Mike Yaacouv, the owner of Sam's following the fire. FOCUS has pledged support of Sam's through volunteers, rebuilding and helping raise money through the official Sam's Meat Market GoFundMe page. If you'd like to donate to Sam's here is the LINK to their GoFundMe page. FOCUS will keep you posted regarding volunteer opportunities as they become available. OPERATION: Lace Up! August 2nd 2014

Thank you to Bill and Connie Kallaos for sponsoring our OPERATION: Lace Up! at St. Louis University's Chaifetz Arena last Saturday! We gave away 467 pairs of new athletic shoes to Metro St. Louis children in need. It was a rewarding experience for all. Thank you to all who volunteered.

Stay Tuned for a video short of one young lady and her shoes. More details to come.
